We’ve had a scrapstore in Birmingham for a little while now as part of Birmingham PlayCare Network. They’re based at Vyse Street in the Jewellery Quarter and open Monday and Tuesday (although this is by appointment). So I was hugely excited to see they were opening a new store at the Swan Courtyard in Yardley!
I popped over on Wednesday, their first day, and was warmly greeted by Josh. He explained how membership for an individual/student worked;
You can make a one off visit for £16, or you can pay an annual fee of £50 and visit once a month. At each visit you can fill a bag, and generally this is a bin bag size, although people do come with reusable bags too.
The staff are amazing and will help you find things that you need. There is SO much stuff that it’s almost overwhelming, but Becky, Ellee, Emma and Shirley helped whether it was choosing bits of paper or cutting off bits of fabric.
As a textile student, I was particularly after fabric and trims and I wasn’t disappointed.
There were LOADS of great papers too, equally useful for kids crafting and university drawing.
We got a great haul, and I can’t wait to go back next time and maybe I’ll splash out on annual membership!
The new satellite scrapstore can be found at 6 Swan Courtyard, Coventry Road, Yardley, B26 1BV and is open Wednesday’s 10-4, with the last admission to the store at 3.30. To make an appointment you can call 0121 236 2917 or email Josh on email@example.com
Thanks scrapstore for being such a brilliant resource!
