I’m thrilled to be writing the launch post of Straight Stitching, with the showcase of a group community project we’ve taken part in.
Summer is finally here, and the flowers are open, which means it is Solihull BID in Bloom time. Today is the official judging day of BID in Bloom, and so to coincide with this, we joined up with Knit For A Bit to help yarnstorm Solihull.
Our stitchers have been working super hard over the last 3 weeks to create flowers and Pom poms to decorate the streets of Solihull. This was no easy feat, and there were times when I wondered if we would ever have enough. But of course, stitchers are hard workers and sure enough there was PLENTY to go around.
The idea was to attach the flowers to some kind of garden mesh, which would be quick to put up and mean we could cover a fairly large area. So that’s what we did!
Here come the photos…
I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved in such a short space of time. We’ve literally covered the lower branches of the trees in Pom poms!
We’ve also put together a bouquet, which I believe will be on display in Touchwood at the Information Desk.
I’m going back to Solihull this evening, when I’ll take a few more pictures of our work, plus have a look at everybody else’s.
What an achievement, and a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part!
